I just want you to know that the only difference between impossible and I’m possible is commitment. That’s it.

Ten years ago, I was morbidly obese. The statistics said it wasn’t likely I was gonna be able to keep the weight off if I managed to lose it. My twenty-plus-year history with yo-yo dieting said the same thing loud and clear. After watching me struggle with my weight for over two decades, my friends didn’t hold out much hope that I’d be successful with long-term weight loss. Neither did my family.

And then there was me, feeling like I was at the bottom of a mountain, looking at the summit, which was my goal weight, and thinking: there’s no way.

I was a size 26. My goal was to reach a size 6 and stay there. I had more than half my weight to lose. I’d never been able to successfully keep the weight off for more than a year. Reaching my goal seemed completely impossible to me at the time.

But still, I made a commitment to myself anyway to see my weight-loss journey all the way through to the end. To turn your life into what you want it to be, you need to do the same. You need to make a commitment to yourself.

To have long-term weight loss, believe in your worth and value

First, you need to believe you’re worth the commitment. So know this: your worth and value are innate. You were born with them and nobody — nobody — can take them away from you. You can choose not to believe in them but that, I say kindly, is your choice. And if you believe you don’t have worth and value, aren’t worthy of good things, are undeserving of the life you most want, and/or aren’t worth making a commitment to yourself then all you have to do is change your mind.

You are worth the:

  • time
  • money
  • effort
  • resources
  • focus
  • and whatever else you need to reach what matters to you.

I believe that about you. Now you just need to believe it about yourself.

 

 

To have long-term weight loss, make that commitment unbreakable

And the second thing you need to do is choose to make that commitment unbreakable, meaning no matter what gets thrown at you — obstacles or challenges or hard emotional things or self-doubt and on the list goes — you’re not going to abandon yourself and quit. And if you don’t think you’re capable of seeing an unbreakable commitment through, then all you have to do, again, is simply change your mind.

You have all you need for success . . .

It’s those two things combined that will make what seems impossible to you into I’m possible. You really can succeed at anything (weight loss or otherwise) if you’ll just believe in your own worth and value then make an unbreakable commitment to yourself to achieve your goal.
